Baker for Android

March 17, 2014
Andrew

Well, the day has come to start expanding the .Hpub format to additional platforms…

Francisco Contreras (via his company GInIEm http://giniem.com) has volunteered to lead the charge in bringing a flavor of Baker to the Android platform!  Today we are opening up an additional repository focused on the Android project stream.

There are some caveats in that the current Baker Android version only supports a Free Magazine shelf format.  Hopefully as time goes on we’ll start building out the platform to have more feature parity with the main Baker iOS project.

It’s a great first step to building the future of Baker.  Please stop by the repository and read over the first Wiki post related to creating a Baker Android project.

We’re certainly looking for help in this workstream!  Francisco will be leading the efforts (and he will shortly be added to the Core Contributor team page on the Baker website as well!)

Hola Leo, si tienes algún problema al crear tu proyecto con ABaker puedes crear un ticket en el proyecto en GitHub de esa forma nos es mas fácil poder colaborar con todos. Saludos

Greetings Alex

Yes, the idea of the ABaker is that we can help people to bring their HTML5 packages to all mobile platforms. We are hopefully starting something for windows mobile very soon.

Hey Francisco,

your idea with the windows mobile version sounds exciting. Could you drop me a mail to rozsa(at)sharksinn.com – maybe we could join some efforts here?

Cheers,

Sandor

Can any do a video walk through? Hey Peter Moxon, How about another udemy course! The first one was great!

How far are you from a completed Android version? I’d like to get rid of Magzter and get 100% (well 70%) of my profits back in my pockets.

Hi, it would be so awesome to have baker running for both platforms! Is there a timeline for the android version? Also, would it be possible to sell issues on playstore too? BR, Michael

Hello Francisco,
congratulations for your excellent work.

I’m not a programmer and therefore I not know so much Java and Android Studio.
I installed and customized a little Abaker interface, and it works very well.
Now, I want to know how I can remove the initial pages for “how to use Abaker framework” ?

thanks so much

Hello there!
congratulations for your excellent work, Francisco.

I installed Abaker and I made some small changes
to UI level and everything works fine.

Now I want to ask you two things (sorry, but I’m not a developer):

– How can I remove the initial pages “usage Baker”?
– I have included a swipe gallery on some pages of the magazine,
but when I try to scroll the image gallery will not work
and instead start the swipe of the entire page.

thank you very much
for the answers.

Hello,

Where can we give feed back on the ABaker?

We are in a position to create a lot of test pages through our InDesign export.

Hi,
I have an error. My error is appcompat-v7\22.2.0. Help me please

Hmm, wonder when it will have the In-App purchase system?
Would like to make my app use the same hpub file in iOS and Android.

So, any movement on this? I’m interested in giving Baker a try but only if it’s actually available on all the major platforms/devices.
